PBS & Non-Restrictive Practice

Positive Behaviour Support strategies that minimise restrictive interventions — particularly transformative in a Nigerian context where physical restraint has sometimes been misused.

Program Overview

Managing challenging behaviors safely and ethically is a major priority. In some local settings, physical restraints have historically been misused due to a lack of specialized training.

This course introduces Positive Behaviour Support (PBS), teaching caregivers how to identify the root causes and triggers of distress.

Participants learn to de-escalate volatile situations using psychological and environmental strategies, ensuring compassionate care that completely avoids unnecessary restrictive or punitive practices.
